Welcome to my world

Where It All Began
"Jewellery is a very personal way of expressing yourself, of being different from everyone else. I like jewellery to be super personal, to speak without words, and bring you joy when you wear it."
Bibi van der Velden is a sculptor at heart. Born in New York, raised in England and the Netherlands, she studied fine arts in Florence and refined her vision at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Royal Academy of Arts. In 2005, she launched her eponymous brand from her Amsterdam studio, where she continues to create imaginative, meaningful jewellery pieces that merge art, storytelling, and emotion.Inspired by nature, the animal kingdom, and a deep appreciation for transformation, Bibi’s creations blur the line between fine jewellery and wearable sculpture. From tornado-shaped earrings to alligators carved in mammoth tusk and gold, each piece carries a sense of movement, playfulness, and wonder.
Craftsmanship
At the heart of every Bibi van der Velden piece is an extraordinary process rooted in traditional craftsmanship. Each design begins with Bibi’s own hand-drawn sketch, followed by a hand-carved wax model that brings the idea to life in miniature.
Her materials are as distinctive as her imagination—18k recycled gold, baroque pearls, and rare and precious stones are combined with ancient elements like 60,000-year-old mammoth tusk and iridescent scarab wings. The result is fine jewellery with soul: poetic, unexpected, and infused with a sense of history and curiosity.
Every piece holds a hidden twist—something to discover, something that delights. A secret mechanism, a hidden lock, jaw that opens and snaps shut by biting its own tail. There’s always a detail that moves, reveals, or transforms—inviting the wearer into a world of surprise and storytelling.
