jewellery care
Please avoid brushing too firmly on oxidised or blackened silver, as this may remove the intentional darkened finish. Ultrasonic cleaning is not recommended and should only be carried out by a professional jeweller or specialist jewellery store.
Special care should be taken with organic and delicate materials such as Pearls, Emeralds, Mammoth Tusk, Scarab Wings, and Rock Crystal. Mammoth Tusk may naturally develop fine hairline fractures or gently yellow over time, as this is part of its organic ageing process. Scarab Wings may discolour when exposed to high heat, such as hot water or hair dryers. Rock Crystal is particularly sensitive to impact and should be protected from knocks and hard surfaces to preserve its clarity and natural brilliance. Diamond pieces should be treated with care to maintain their brilliance.
Although diamonds are highly durable, settings can loosen over time with wear. We recommend avoiding hard knocks and having your pieces checked periodically by a professional jeweller to ensure all stones remain securely set.
We advise avoiding contact with creams, lotions, perfumes, cleaning products, chlorine, and extreme heat. Jewellery should also be removed during activities such as gardening or any physical work that may expose it to impact or abrasion.
Mammoth Care Guide
Mammoth is a material that is over 60,000 years old, therefore you should treat it with the utmost care. Avoid contact with detergents, body lotions, soap, or extreme heat when wearing, along with vigorous activities such as gardening.
To care for your mammoth tusk jewellery, apply the accompanying Renaissance Wax to the piece from time to time. Hairline fractures can naturally appear in the mammoth tusk, as it is an organic material. If well cared for, this design will become a treasured heirloom to be passed on to future generations for years to come.
Scarab Care Guide
The Scarab wings used in Bibi's designs are entirely natural, and are not dyed, polished, or treated in any way. To create a stable base, the wings are backed in 18k gold or silver.
The wings are naturally weather-resistant and durable, but they should be kept away from any sources of direct heat. Remove your jewellery when washing hands with warm water or using hair dryers.
The wings can also be damaged by chemicals, so you should remove your Scarab Collection jewellery if applying perfumes, soap, or cleaning agents. The jewellery should be stored in a cool, dry place, as prolonged exposure to humidity could damage the wings' appearance.
With proper care, your Scarab Collection jewellery will retain its beauty for decades - or even centuries - to come.
Rock Crystal Care Guide
Formed over time through the crystallisation of silica, rock crystal is valued for its clarity and soft luminosity. Its transparent surface captures and refracts light, revealing subtle natural textures unique to each piece.
To preserve its brilliance, clean gently with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, perfumes, lotions, and sudden temperature changes. As rock crystal can be sensitive to impact, each piece should be stored separately in a soft pouch or lined box when not worn.
With thoughtful care, rock crystal retains its luminous quality, continuing to interact beautifully with light and movement over time.
Diamonds Care Guide
Diamonds don’t lose their sparkle, but they can collect dirt and oils over time. We recommend professional cleaning every two years and regular checks to ensure the settings remain secure.
To maintain their clarity, clean gently with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft brush or cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals and abrasive materials. Exposure to lotions, perfumes, and household products may reduce their brilliance, so it is best to apply these before wearing your jewellery.
Although diamonds are highly resilient, they can still chip if subjected to impact, and pieces should be stored separately in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratching other surfaces or gemstones.
