Background
Trained as a sculptor at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and as a fine jewellery designer at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, fine jeweller Bibi van der Velden combines the natural world with a romantic edge to create unique, eye-catching pieces with a fantasy-like aesthetic.
Bibi van de Velden’s jewellery-making is grounded in traditional craftsmanship and Bibi has always ensured sustainability & transparency throughout the brand’s history, and luxury supply chain.
Nature and the animal world are constant signatures in Bibi’s whimsical designs; from swirling tornado earrings to statement tusk and gold carved alligator earrings, to a noble tusk-carved unicorn that crowns a gold ring. Bibi hand-sketches and hand-carves each piece in wax and consciously works with sustainable and unexpected materials, from 60,000-year-old mammoth tusks, ostrich eggs, to scarab wings.
Movement, innovation and transformation are all hallmarks of Bibi’s work in a brand that over the last decade has carved a unique place in the creative fine jewellery category and is expected to continue to grow in a receptive market. The business has grown double digit year-on-year and is a multi-million Euro business.
The ambition for the future is to establish the brand as a globally recognised fine jewellery brand built around Bibi’s inspiration and sculptural background. We sell directly to consumers (offline events, servicing our database and online) and through selected retail partners. We will start opening our own brand stores in the very near future and will keep on building upon our existing sales channels too.
